Porker of the Week
March 2nd, 2007 in Porker of the WeekEach Friday, Eye on the Statehouse will announce its “Porker of the Week.” It’s our way of calling attention to a particularly big spender.
This week’s “Poker of the Week” is the Ohio Attorney General.
On Tuesday, Attorney General Marc Dann received authorization from the State Controlling Board to spend $11,644,985. Also, he had to explain why his First Assistant Attorney General “is paid $33,000 a year more than his predecessor.”
In fairness, the Attorney General is required to seek Controlling Board release of funds for outside attorneys – special counsels – used by other state government agencies. However, he had previously promised to use fewer special counsels than his predecessor.
It’s just something for the Attorney General to consider while he is driven home to the Mahoning Valley this evening in his taxpayer purchased $40,373.98 Chevy Suburban.
